‘Missing’ Bride Resurfaces After Wedding Day.
A 24 year old businesswoman who disappeared a day to her wedding has resurfaced and handed herself over to the police.
Bushira Najjuuko, visited her friend’s saloon for a henna treatment and on her way home, she gave Kivumbi Ali, a motorcycle rider to deliver her wedding changing dresses to her home promising to follow shortly.
That was the last time she was seen, driving her family into panic mode. The wedding which was set to happen on Sunday March 12th 2023 was later postponed because they believed their daughter was kidnapped for unknown reasons.
Speaking about the case, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango confirmed that Bushira reappeared on Tuesday and reported herself to Nsangi police station. In her statement with the police, she revealed that she disappeared because she was not interested in marrying Farouk Mugalu, the man her family wanted her to get married to. This was also a move to make her parents welcome the man she loved.
“She told Police that she was not interested in the man the family wants her to get married to. Najjuko told Police that instead she was interested in another man whom the family doesn’t want…She told Police that she bought the shoes and dresses with the money the family gave her for shopping and she sent a boda boda rider to take them home to show them that she doesn’t want the man.” Onyango said.
On her whereabouts, Bushira noted that she decided to go to her friend’s place in Zana on Saturday when she was reported missing. She was however handed back to her family and Onyango warned parents against forced marriages.
“We appeal to parents not to force their children into marriages that they don’t want.” He spoke.
