Armed Officers Deployed, Roadblocks Mounted In Kisumu (video)

Police in Kisumu County have mounted a roadblock on the driveway to Kisumu State Lodge from Jomo Kenyatta Avenue as a measure to prevent any threat that may be brought about by Raila’s Planned Mass Action.

Security has also been beefed-up in and outside the Lodge.

Two land cruisers and a lorry full of armed  police officers both in anti-riot gear and in plain clothes stood strategically at the junction to Kisumu county offices and the State Lodge.

The officers in conjunction with traffic police officers diverted motorists to use an alternative route as they manned the road Normalcy prevails across city roads and its environment.

This follows a threat by the Azimio leader Raila Odinga call for mass action over the high cost of living.

Raila issued a 14-day ultimatum to President William Ruto in efforts to push the national government to reduce the high cost of living which has affected many households.

The Government fears such action may lead to a political crisis.
