Pilau Fight Claims A Teenager’s Arm
Kiira Regional police are investigating circumstances under which a teenager’s arm was chopped off during a fight for food.
The incident happened in Wakalenge, Jinja City where the 15 year old victim Sizomu Shafic, had gone to attend a graduation party together with his friends. As they joined the queue to get food at the table, three suspects allegedly pushed them out of the line and grabbed the saucepan filled with pilau from them.
This was the beginning of the heavy fight between the two groups and in the process; one suspect is believed to have pulled out a knife from his waist, slashing off Sizomu’s palm before fleeing from the scene.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at a clinic in Jinja City whereas three suspects Kabale Norman, Eguma Yasin and Akidi Ziyad have been arrested in connection to the incident and are currently held in custody at Jinja Central Police.
Speaking of the incident, Sizomu vows to fight for justice because he says the permanent damage done on his body will deprive him of the strength and ability to handle his daily duties.
According to the Kiira Regional spokesperson James Mubbi, a search was done at the prime suspect only identified as Majid’s rental house and the blood stained knife was recovered under his bed. He is still on the run but efforts to bring him to justice are underway.
The suspects will be charged with causing grievous harm and attempted murder.
