Family Man Beaten To Death By Angry Mob After Murdering Ex-Wife.
Fear has gripped residents of Ssemuto, Nakaseke after witnessing the double death of a family man together with his wife.
The incident happened in a small village Ssegalya yesterday evening around 10PM and according to the residents who had flooded the couple’s home to witness the crime, the husband Sserugo Kagulire Gerald severely flogged his wife, Nakayiza Diana to death after a family dispute.
After committing the crime, the 45 year old man rushed to the bar where he started bragging to people around him on how he had murdered the mother of his children. The enraged residents in return descended on Gerald and lynched him for the crime committed on his wife. His body was thrown on the road.
On the day of the unfortunate event, Diana had gone to the clinic to buy medication for her sick child where the man attacked her. She was reported dead as she was being rushed to hospital.
The deceased couple had five children after losing two and Daniel Ssepuuya, the village chairman, noted that they had parted ways three months back and on many occasions, Gerald promised to get revenge on his wife for leaving him.
“They started getting disagreements seven years ago that led to their separation. The wife having moved to her sister’s place, they kept in touch but it still did not work.” Daniel said.
The residents blame Gerald’s action on the excessive abuse of toxic drugs that they say has become a common vice among the youths around the village.
Police together with two doctors from Ssemutto examined the dead bodies which were later given to their families for burial.
