Medical Officer Arrested For Using Fake HIV Results to Lure Woman Into Sex
Police in Rubaga Division have arrested a medical officer for allegedly giving a young woman fabricated HIV results to lure her into having sex with him.
It is said that the woman went to this medic to get medical tests done, a mandatory requirement needed by labor export companies to all domestic workers travelling to the Middle East.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigirye, the incident was reported to the authorities and managed to track down the suspect.
The victim did the tests on 6th February and on 14th of the same month, she was called by the suspect to pick her results. The results indicated a positive result to HIV which she disputed and decided to take another test and a different facility which came out negative.
The medical facility based at Lumumba has a monopoly on the HIV tests for the labor company where the victim was registered. She went back to meet the suspect with her new results and after having a chat, the suspect allegedly told the woman that he would give her negative results if she agreed to have sex with him.
The victim agreed and reported to the labor company that informed the police. The suspect was arrested at Biva Hospital, Kampala where he had booked to have sexual intercourse with the victim.
“The suspect is detained at Natete Police Station. We thank the victim for being proactive. We are able to prevent crime, “ Luke Owoyesigirye said.
