Cleophas Malala Appointed New UDA Secretary General

Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Wakhungu  Malala has been appointed as the interim Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

The changes in the ruling party comes after the party’s National Executive Committee meeting held Monday, February 27.

 

Malala who unsuccessfully vied for the Kakamega County Governor seat replaces Veronica Maina who was nominated to Senate.

 

UDA party constitution states that the party Secretary General will be the party’s spokesperson and manager,  reporting to various party organs. That means Malala will be responsible for  callings meetings, supervising policies and programs, writing and presenting reports, and keep track of the party’s activities.

 

He will also be responsible for the party’s finances, seal, legal documents, nomination certificates, and communication, as well as any other duties delegated to him by the party constitution or the NEC.

 

 Malala will serve as a secretary to the National Delegates Council (NDC)  National Governing Council (NGC), and National Executive Council (NEC), implementing their decisions while also performing the duties and functions expected of a political party secretary-general.

 

In the chairperson position, Embu county Governor Cecily Mbarire has been appointed the new party interim chairperson taking over from Johnson Muthama who resigned to serve as a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC)

 

In other appoints EALA MP Omar Hassan replaces Kipruto Arap Kirwa as Vice Chairman, and Japheth Nyakundi MP for Kitutu Chache North replaces Omingo Magara as Treasurer.

 

Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka has been appointed as the new Party Organising Secretary, taking over from  Karisa Nzai.
