3 Men Arrested For Stealing Nairobi Medical Supplies and Drugs (Video)

Three individuals have been arrested  after being caught stealing Nairobi County medical drugs and other supplies.

Breaking the news on his twitter account on Tuesday, February 21, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja said he received a tip from the public about the stolen drugs on Monday and immediately  alerted the county officials and police.

The officers took their position and tracked down the suspects whom they eventually brought to book.

“After a tip off yesterday, these thugs were caught this morning stealing a van full of drugs from one of our facilities. These ones will be an example to the others who have been stealing what’s meant for the people. As we implement our HMIS, we are strengthening vigilance,” tweeted Sakaja

In a video circulating online, one of the suspects in the clip revealed that the drugs were being taken to Murangá county.

“Dawa imekua recovered ilikua inapelekwa Murang’a bwana Governor. Tumeweza kuwashika together with the help of the officers around,” one of the individuals who caught the three suspects told Governor Sakaja.

This comes barely a week After Nairobi governor  Sakaja flagged off medical supplies from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) worth Ksh 244,000,000 to be distributed to all the health facilities within Nairobi County.

“Glad to receive and distribute essential medical supplies worth Sh.244 million this afternoon after settling part of our historical debt with KEMSA. We have put in place adequate measures to ensure the integrity of our stocks and that they reach our patients,” said Sakaja
