Woman,77, Beaten To Death Over Alleged Witchcraft
Police have launched investigations after a woman was allegedly beaten to death in Ruyenjes, Embu County.
The body of the 77yr old woman identified as Alice Kaguna, was found by the Police dumped at Gatumbi Market,Embu County.
According to one of the witnesses, the deceased was seen burning her under wears outside her neighbor’s gate in the morning hours.
He further adds that upon getting out and wanting to find out what the commotion was all about, the elderly woman who was arguing with a group of people went ahead and poured hot water on him burning his hand.
“I was shocked when I went out only to find my neighbour burning her underwear outside my gate…she splashed hot water on my right hand, leaving me with a huge burn,” said the Witness
The witness however decided to report the matter to the area police camp but upon returning, he found that the woman had been beaten to death for claims of engaging with witchcraft practices.
Area residents claim that the deceased had land issues with the neighbour which according to them might be the reason behind her death.
Emmanuel Okanda who’s the Embu East Police Commander has since condemned the heinous act, asking the area residents to always solve their issues amicably.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Kyeni Mission hospital mortuary pending further investigations.
