Facebook And Instagram Users To Pay For Verification Badges

Facebook and Instagram parent Meta on Sunday announced the introduction of subscription fee for Facebook and Instagram verification badge for its users.

CEO, Mark Zuckerberg said the verification will be promoting one’s security on social media and authenticity towards customers across all social media services.

“This week we’re starting to roll out Meta Verified — a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support” Mark Zuckerberg said on his Facebook page.

This week, the paid Meta verification will be rolled out in New Zealand and Australia as other countries follow.

On both Instagram and Facebook, users having the blue badge will be entitled to pay for the verification badge monthly as Meta looks forward into promoting digital business in the awaking economy.

This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on web or $14.99 / month on iOS” Zuckerberg added.

Meta has now joined Twitter which is still struggling to put into practice its policy on users to pay for the verification badges
