When the coffin had been lowered into the grave, Ndekeire together with his friends reportedly staggered to the graveside to also pay their last respect to the departed.

“He was a good man who made everyone laugh outside,But inside the home, he was a weak man who was always crying like a baby because his fat wife pounded him like traditional cassava,” Ndekeire said in his farewell speech as reported by Daily Monitor.

Villagers after hearing the sentiments found the voice familiar prompting them to turn and confirm who it was.

Immediately, women  started screaming as everybody ran to save their  lives.

Ndekeire in the process also sobered up and took off taking the effort of several village men to chase him and bring him back to the village.

Family later revealed that Ndekeire had been missing for several days and when they one day  heard of a sugarcane truck that hit and killed a man on the spot near a village bar where Ndekeire was a regular patron, they concluded it was him.

The deceased’s crushed face made it difficult for proper verification as the conclusion was merely drawn from a grey sweater relatives saw  at the mortuary.

Ndekeire also explained that he had been abducted by some people he owed money leaving mourners and relatives with a hard puzzle of whose remains it was that they almost buried.
