Suspects Slapped With Sh. 160,000 Bond For Stealing 14 Donkeys
Two men from Marigat South Sub County in Baringo have been charged with stealing donkeys worth Sh 140,000 at a Kabarnet court on Friday.
Wilberforce Lesupen and David Cherina committed the offense on July 1 of last year at an unknown time in Eldume village, Eldume sublocation, and Marigat location jointly with others who were not present before the court. They stole 14 donkeys, all valued at Sh 140,000, the property of Wilson Lesultan.
The duo who were arrested on January 26 this year were charged with stealing stock, contrary to Section 278 of the Penal Code.
When the two suspects appeared before Kabarnet Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Ateya, they both pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them.
The senior resident magistrate ordered the accused to be released each on a Sh 80,000 bond with one surety of a similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh 40,000.
The case will be mentioned on February 10 before the commencement of hearings on March 7, where three witnesses are lined up to testify in court.
