KUCCPS Disputes Raising University Entry Cut Off Points
Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has advised netizens to avoid fake news circulating on social media corncerning raise of University entry Cut off points.
This comes out after the recent KCSE results release where many 2022 KCSE candidates passed in their exams.
Due to the high grades scored, there is a fake information circulating purporting, KUCCPS has raised the cut off points to join campus and pursue some courses.
On its social media platforms, KUCCPS has informed Kenyans to ignore the circulating fake news for it has not reported any changes concerning the cut off points.
However, KUCCPS CEO, Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome has said, soon the students will be invited to apply for placement.
“KUCCPS will soon invite students to apply for placement to 401,584 slots in various higher learning institutions” says Dr. Mercy Wahome.
” KUCCPS wishes to advise the public to beware of false information circulating in social media forums.
Concerning the fake news, the students have been advised to ignore it and wait for official report from KUCCPS.
” Information on the forthcoming placement of students to universities and colleges will be communicated officially through Facebook page, mainstream media, the KUCCPS website and KUCCPS verified Twitter page” it notes.
The circulating fake news say, varsity entry grades will be B- for girls and B plain for boys. This had started causing migraine to learners who had scored C+ preparing their minds to join campus.
However, as it stands, the varsity entry grade remains C+ after the revolution came in 2016 during the then CS for Education Fred Matiang’i’s era.
In 2016, the cut off points were reduced from B- for girls and B plain for boys to a gender balance equation of C+ after many candidates dropped in KCSE exam.
For a period of 5 years, Kenya has been experiencing a low accountability of merit in KCSE, getting less than 200 A plain.
The morph has rose during the CS Education Ezekiel Machogu’s regime where As have been like the 2015 downward eras.
