Rugby Star Collins Injera Retires
Kenya’s Rugby Star Collins Injera has called it a day in the Rugby Sport.
Through a post on his social media handle, Injera says he had to listen to his body after months of deliberating whether to call it quit or not.
“Everything must come to an end, sometime. I have always said that I will know it’s time because my body will tell me.And for the past few months, it has really ‘spoken’ to me so, finally, I have decided to listen to it. I hope I made you all proud,”he wrote.
Injera added that as hard as this is for him, after 17 years of literal blood, sweat and tears he has to retire.
“It’s time to sleep away from this great game that has given me so much more than I could ever ask for,” he said.
He also thanked his Fans for according him a huge support all through the years not forgetting his Wife and kids who have been with him through thick and thin.
“To my wife Chebet and my kids; Chloe, Clyde, and Carl, thank you very much for all the love, support and understanding you have given me all these years.“Those days, weeks, and sometimes months that you have endured without my presence as I was busy chasing my dream across the globe are finally over,” he said.
He is retiring as the world’s second-top try scorer in 7s with 279 tries.
Injera now moves to Avanti Communications, a UK-based satellite operator, where he will take up a role to support its operations in East Africa
