UoE Turns Away Students Over Indecent Dressing
The University of Eldoret recently joined KeMU to ban indecent dress code practiced by students. On a memo dated 19th, Jan 2023 through the Dean of Students’ office, the institution warned students over indecent attires such as Mini-skirts, Tumbo cuts, ragged jeans, transparent clothes among others.
Today morning, the institution started implementing the move to fight what they term as indecent dress code.
Students woke up early as usual to go to school and attend classes only to meet the unusual. Dress code was being scrutinized at the gate and anybody with forbidden attire was not allow to get into the school premises.
This was a disappointment to most students who had woken up early hoping to attend the day’s classes. Most lamented of being unprepared for this speedy implementation.
‘Hawakuwa wametuambia kama kuanzia leo walikuwa wanarudisha watu nyumbani,’ a student lamented.
‘ Itasababisha mambo mengi hii wiki juu most of us hatutaweza kuattend class juu ya hii sheria,’ another said.
However, others say they are okay with the new rule and encourage their fellows to adhere to it
‘ I’m okay with it and will encourage my fellow students to do the same,’ said a lady student.
‘ You dress to be addressed. If you want to be addressed the right way in the society then you dress the right way,‘ another observed.
