Tanzanian boxer Karim Mandonga lived to his hype after he beat Kenya’s Daniel Wanyonyi.

The unfit Wanyonyi could not withstand the bouts thrown by Mandonga who knocked him out via a
Technical Knockout.

Wanyonyi was literally a pale shadow of himself as showboating Mandonga commanded the ring
majestically.

Mandonga took the fight to Wanyonyi and descended on the latter with a flurry of punches that left
the Kenyan clutching on thin air.
Wanyonyi had nowhere to hide as Mandonga turned him into a punching bag.

Confident Mandonga controlled the tempo of the one-sided encounter as he wanted as confused
Wanyonyi shifted from one corner of the ring to the other in search of reprieve.

An elated Mandonga could not hide his joy after he was declared the winner, “I fought this fight for
my country. This is a win for Tanzania. I am happy I have lived to my promise.”
‘’Anataka anapigwa hataki anapigwa’’ said elated Mandonga after the bout. He added ‘’ hii ngumi
imetoka Ukraine kwenye mlipuko wa mabomu inaitwa sungunyo. Hii sungunyo lazima ifanye kazi
kokote’’

Meanwhile Kenya’s Rayton Okwiri beat Tanzania’s Ally Ndaro in a non-title match.

Okwiri beat Ndaro after garnering more points in a unanimous decision by the judges.

The boxing event was held in the packed Tsavo Ballroom at the KICC.

The BetNare sponsored event had eight other bouts that drew boxers from all over Africa.

The first bout of the day saw Brian Munyoro beat Dennis Otieno from Kenya via a Technical
Knockout in the third round.

Jean Collin of Mauritius also beat David Omollo of Kenya in a majority decision made by the judges.

Yanik Katuta of DRC was Technically Knocked Out by Kennedy St. Pierre of Mauritius just 52 seconds
into the game.

In the women’s featherweight title, Parsedes Anyango sponsored by BetNare beat June Kavulani.

BetNare during the event promised to support grassroots sportsmanship in Kenya and also build
talent.

“We are new in Kenya but we have promised to change the game of sportsmanship in Kenya.
Hopefully we will be able to sponsor more and more events,” said General Manager BetNare.
