Bahati Reveals Why He Left The Gospel Music Industry

Kenyan artist Bahati has finally opened up about why he walked away from the gospel music industry, a decision that left many of his fans surprised.
Bahati expressed his frustration with the hypocrisy and lack of genuine love in the industry, revealing his disappointment with some of the people he encountered.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview with the Mic Cheque Podcast, the artist said he never intended to leave gospel music but was forced by the overwhelming negativity he faced within the industry.

“I never planned to leave gospel but the hate was too much and the pretence. Hadi unaeza ona God hatabariki hii kitu, tuwache uwongo na tuwache kutumia jina ya yesu hapa. Hata hawa wamama wenye ni spiritual hawapendani,” he stated.
The Barua hit maker also emphasized that his relationship with God remains intact even after leaving the gospel music industry many years ago.
“Mimi si mtumishi wa Mungu, mimi ni mtoto wa Mungu. Our gospel needs a lot of cleaning. I know the principles of God and the bible says no one is perfect. We had so much fakeness in the industry,” he noted.
Over the years, Bahati has successfully reinvented himself in the secular music world, releasing hit songs and collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry.
