Mariam Wairimu: Women Should Pay Dowry For Their Husbands
Mariam Wairimu, a Life Coach and Relationship Contributor for Spice FM stated that women should pay dowry for their husbands.
Speaking on Spice FM’s breakfast show, she explained that men play major and important roles in the lives of their wives and that some duties should be offloaded from their lives.
Mariam Wairimu argued that it takes a lot of work to be a man. The responsibility of protecting, provisioning, guiding, and leading a family needs to be recognized, and men eased from paying the price.

“Women’s parents or wife’s parents are supposed to be paying the man because this man is going to take care of your daughter the whole of her life.” Mariam Wairimu stated.
The tradition is unheard of in the African community but according to her, the woman’s or wife’s parents should pay a dowry for her husband since he’d be living with her for the rest of her marriage life.
“A man who is going to take care, provide, protect and other things, that’s a man who should be paid. The family of the woman should pay the man.” Wairimu clarified.
She argued that the tradition practiced among the Indians should be adopted by the Africans as a sign of honour and equality in the institution of marriage.
Further, she revealed that since she was single if she gets a man to betroth her, she would wish to see her parents pay her dowry for her husband.
