Media personality Dennis Okari opened up about his shortlived marriage to Betty Kyallo in an exclusive talk with Rev. Kathy Kiuna.

Okari revealed that he married Betty after they had, had a child before wedlock. He explained that the scenario made him plan a lavish wedding to declutter Betty’s soul since every girl dreams of a wedding.

We got our daughter and we started living together. Life just continued moving on. Then it got to a point I felt it was every girl’s dream to have a wedding. So we got into planning the wedding and we did it. “ Okari revealed.

The celebrated media personality said that after their lavish wedding, reality started hitting him and he realised that he rushed things.

After our wedding, we went back and the reality of now you are married started eating us. The moment you commit and do a wedding and enter a covenant, that’s when hell breaks loose. Reality hits. When you are just single nothing much happens.

“It started feeling like drifting apart. Like this is really not meant to be. It was so fast after the wedding. To be honest I wish I never did it but I did it out of a good heart to try and correct a wrong. We had a child out of wedlock.” The former NTV anchor shared.

Okari added; “It got to a point where it couldn’t just last. We all had our interest. I loved God. I grew up in a certain way and things were not going in that way. A lot of things started coming out. All these things started happening at the same time and am caught up in a crossfire...

The attention is on me. We all know but deep down there was something I was struggling with. I couldn’t answer this but ‘was this thing of God? I couldn’t answer it. ‘Was this marriage of God?’ I couldn’t answer it. I couldn’t tell you yes or no.

Years later, I’m finding myself asking myself the same question, ‘What did I get myself into?’ It was never meant to be from the very beginning but we were forcing and just pushing it because we had a child…I came true to myself and realised this marriage was not really of God. She was not really my wife. She wasn’t. I was not her husband. It was not meant to be.” He revealed.

However, Okari had a piece of advice for men; “If you ever find yourself in a situation where you’re separated from your wife or you’re going through a divorce because it’s legally draining, emotionally damaging, and spiritually exhausting, don’t speak a word of it to anyone, just walk out of it quietly. Don’t share on social media, don’t talk on social media.”
