In an exclusive talk on The Unbattled Talk Podcast, the reggae duo explained that they met at random street businesses in Dandora and later became colleagues at Ghetto Radio.

Our meet-up is a coincidence, but in all, it’s God who enabled us to work together over 14 years. At first, we met in Dandora and later at Ghetto Radio.” Lion Deh revealed.

Mbusii and Lion Deh shared that when they joined Radio Jambo from Ghetto Radio, many people never believed they would navigate well at the new station with Sheng.

Tukitoka Ghetto Radio, watu wengi hapa waliogopa Sheng’. Walikuwa wakisema hawa jamaa watatoboa kweli? Would they last here?” Mbusii stated as Lion Deh backed him.

We overcame stigmatization about our show when people said sheng’ was not a language. They alleged Sheng’ is a language of thugs but we managed to commercialise it.” Lion Deh explained.

Lion Deh attributed their success to something that happened because of their focus and determination at work. He added that at some point, he wishes his parents could be alive to rejoice with him for what he had achieved in life as a media personality born and raised in a humble background.

I feel bad seeing my mom and dad aren’t alive to see my progress but, I’m pretty sure they’re proud of me where they are and that makes me confident in whatever I do.” He said as he advised the young generation to trust the process of success.
