Vybz Kartel Says Before Arrest, He Used to See Himself as God
Vybz Kartel revealed that cell life humbled him/ courtesy.
Adidja Palmer, popularly known as Vybz Kartel has shared that before his arrest in 2011, fame had made him see himself as God.
In a Drink Champs podcast interview this week, the Jamaican dancehall artiste explained that many people in his country loved him because of his music, fame, and charity.
Vybz Kartel revealed that in 2011 when he was jailed, he felt humbled in the cell and started building a new relationship with God.

“Before I got arrested, I never believed in God as a concept and being there, I knew I would be released at the time I needed the extra energy because a lot of people would be depending on me just like the guys I was arrested with and my family.
“So, I had to put my faith in something other than us and that’s when I got more spiritual, religious and tattooed the thing on my face- ‘Love God.'” He shared.
The artiste advised the young generation to be humble regardless of fame or wealth. He cited that the cell life taught him many things including love, respect and humbleness and that he would not play with the second chance he received.

“If I hadn’t gone to jail, I would have been dead but I got a second chance and I won’t play with it. 13 years in prison and coming out to get my international visas and make millions? I would be an idiot if I played with it.” He stated.
The artiste was arrested and jailed in 2011 over an alleged murder case and got a reprieve in 2025 when he was released from the cell.
