“Victorious”: Vybz Kartel Reacts After Winning Murder Conviction Appeal
Prior to the ruling, One of Kartel’s lawyers Isa Buchanan hinted at the victory posting a video on his Instagram
Jamaican dancehall Music sensation Vybz Kartel has won an appeal against his murder conviction. He was jailed in connection to the disappearance of his associate Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams whose body has never been found.
Vybz Kartel successfully appealed his murder conviction at the Privy council in London. Kartel was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 35 years and later reduced on appeal to 32-and-a- half years. He has been imprisoned since 2011.
In February,the singer launched an appeal at the Privy council in London. Through his lawyers, the 48-year-old questioned an earlier ruling over claims of attempts to bribe the jury.

The London court on Thursday, March 14, overturned Kartel’s conviction, ruling that attempts to bribe the jury meant the ruling was compromised.
His lawyers argued that the trial judge mishandled claims that one of the jurors offered around Ksh 430,000 to fellow jurors to rule in Kartel’s favour.Adding that the jury member should have been thrown off in the original trial.
One of Kartel’s lawyers Isa Buchanan hinted at the victory posting a video on his Instagram page saying:
“I have a big surprise.”
This ruling did not set Vybz Kartel free, as the Privy council sent the case back to the Court of Appeal in Jamaica to decide whether he and his co-accused should stand trial again.
Upon being handed freedom, Kartel in celebratory mood wrote; “Victorious!!!!”

Recently, Kartel was reportedly suffering in jail with photos online showing his neck and face swollen making his eyes to protrude.A medical report by Kartel’s physician Dr Karen phillips recommended a surgery to treat the thyroid condition,referred to as Grave’s disease.
