Catherine was born and raised in Nairobi West. She attended the famous and well performing city schools including Ngara Girls High School before joining Kenya Institute of Mass Communication to pursue a course in Journalism.
She began her career as early as 1980 as a radio continuity announcer at barely 18 years of age.
It was later in 1985 that Catherine joined the television industry
In March 1990, she became part of the founding team of KTN as the first privately owned television station in Kenya. She became the channel’s first anchor to go on live broadcast, shifting from the previous pre-recorded format.
The glamorous TV presenter who would later command stellar pay packages began her career on Sh1,500 a month, although she earned a few extra coins voicing commercials.
Catherine is a proud mother of one son Martin Kasavuli who was born in 1981. When asked about her relationship with Martin, she marks regretting missing moments with son during childhood due to her demanding career proving her as a good mother.
In late 2022, Kasavuli opened up on battling Cervical Cancer. She thanked friends and fans for standing with her at a moment she needed them most optimistic that she would overcome and live to tell the story.
‘It’s not been an easy Journey but i believe in God’s faithfulness and breakthrough. To anyone fighting the same struggle i love you, life is a beautiful thing and we shall leave to tell our stories,’She said.
Unfortunately, this never happened as she passed away on December 29, 2022.
Ever since, Condolence messages have been sent by several renowned personalities and fans applauding her for her resilient spirit and good news presentation. It has also emerged that the late also mentored many; both male and female, an important thing she will be remembered with in several years to come.
As Billy O’clock, we join family, fans and friends in celebrating her life that was undoubtedly well lived. May her soul rest in eternal Peace.
