Jeff Koinange Reveals by 1986 Was Earning Ksh 200K, Approximately Ksh 2M in Current Kenya

Jeff Koinange, Royal Media Services journalist shared the amount he used to earn at age 20. In a breakfast show on Hot96 alongside Patrick Igunza and Abdikadir, he said the earnings were good.

Jeff Koinange said he used to earn 400 dollars weekly when in Florida in 1986. At the time, he was a fresh graduate from school, barely 20 years of age.

During the chat which was sparked by Igunza’s enquiry whether Koinange had ever preferred leftover Ugali as an escort, the legendary journalist said the leftover was meant for dogs.

” Ugali ya Jana napatia mbwa wakule wafurahi. Tomorrow is another day. “ Jeff replied to Igunza on whether he’s ever taken leftovers of Ugali as breakfast escort. “Ugali ya Jana ni snack lazma uifunikie.” Igunza added.

Abdikadir weighed in on Igunza’s inquiry about leftovers, saying Jeff was earning handsome money and that there was no way he could eat leftovers as an escort.

Abdikadir shared that by 1986, the legendary Citizen TV anchor was working and pocketing nice pay weekly when Igunza was one- year -old.

“Igunza you know you’re sitting on a wealth of information. Jeff, in his book, writes in 1986 (when he was turning 20 years old), he was earning 410 dollars a week in Florida just after he left Kenya.

“So, that’s 410× 4 (1640 dollars) a month in the past dollar. That’s Ksh 208,000 in those days; (multiply by 10 ), that’s approximately Ksh 2M today.” Abdikadir explained.

He added that the life Jeff Koinange lived by 1986, can’t amount to eating the leftovers of Ugali in the morning as an escort.
