Larry Madowo did not hesitate to remind netizens that he is doing his job.

CNN journalist Larry Madowo has come to defend himself after receiving backlash from netizens accusing him of negatively portraying Africa especially his home country Kenya.

For Larry, highlighting the plight of those affected has left many criticizing him for exposing the negative side of Kenya. The country had been affected by floods leaving many homeless and several dead.The international correspondent has been covering stories in Africa and lately in Kenya. In a video shared in his Facebook page, Larry was featuring the flooded area of Kibera and Mathare in boots water reaching above his ankles.

Larry Madowo did not hesitate to remind netizens that he is doing his job in Africa as assigned. This is not the first time he has received backlash for reporting on issues in the country.

The role of journalism is to speak truth to power, not patriotism or marketing. Are we together?” he captioned.

Recently, the CNN international correspondent found himself in a war with Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen for putting out the predicament in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Madowo went ahead to remind social media users that he had warned them of his job in a post that he shared on 28th June 2023. The post read; ” My job is to cover Africa accurately not positively.”
