"Alikuwa Ananijengea Nyumba": Captain Hillary Litali's Mother Recounts Her Son's Sweet Plans Before Death

Captain Hillary Litali’s mother Everlyne Litali has recounted her son’s sweet plans before the tragic chopper crash in the Sindar area, Kaben location in Elgeyo-Marakwet County on Thursday, 18th April 2024.

Speaking to TV47 while at her home in Nakuru, the mother of the 32-year-old KDF officer said the untimely death of her son left her in shock at the time he was the pillar of the family.Being the firstborn of two siblings, Captain Hillary Litali’s mother said her son had promised to complete her unfinished house in May, but the storm of death cut short his sweet plans.

According to Captain Hillary Litali’s mother, the son not only had a plan to complete her house but was also in the process of going for further military training studies.

“I have been robbed of my son in whom I had so much hope. He had promised me that he would come back in May so that we could finish the roof on our house in Kitale, and move in to live there,” the mother said.

The mother added that her son also had a plan for a housewarming party set in September for official relocation from Nakuru to Kitale.

“Alikuwa assigned kuenda course nyingine ya 3 months na after amerudi, ndo atakuje na familia yake ambaye mke wake yupo huko Nairobi na mtoto mmoja. Akimleta huko kwa boma nyumbani, alisema pia ataalika marafiki zake na wachome mbuzi.

“Na ule wakati tulikuwa naye tukitembea kwa compound aalikuwa akionionyesha hapa ndipo tutachomea mbuzi, hapa ndipo nitakuwekea drum la maji, hapa ndipo nitajenga septic tank. Mtoto wangu aliweza kunipromise mambo ya ajabu.

Captain Hillary Litali met his untimely death in a plane crash with other 9 including General Francis Ogola. Following their death, the Ministry of Interior announced a 3-day governmental day for mourning the revered officers.
