The veteran midfielder moved to Tanzania’s Azam FC before he was approached by Kenya Police FC with a lucrative deal that made him switch to the law enforcers last season. On Saturday 3rd March 2024, Police FC hosted Gor Mahia in a FKF Premier League clash at Police Sacco stadium in a match that set a new record for having the expensive entrance fee tickets, where a VVIP ticket went for Ksh. 3500 while VIP ticket went for Ksh. 2000 whereas regular tickets were sold at Ksh. 1,500.

Going to the match, Gor Mahia were unbeaten in the FKF Premier League, but Police FC ended their unbeaten run as they defeated them 3-1. Former Gor Mahia man Tito Okello was on target as he scored two goals before the former K’Ogalo captain Kenneth Muguna scored the third goal to seal Police FC resounding victory.

However, Kenneth Muguna’s decision to celebrate the goal against his former club found himself in a midst of controversy where he was largely criticized by a section of Gor Mahia fans who saw it as a betrayal and disloyalty from their former club captain. Muguna’s celebration attracted negative criticisms from Gor fans forcing him to respond on why he decided to celebrate the goal.

Speaking on Turf Talk show with Nana Owiti , Muguna revealed the reason behind his celebration against his former club,“How they received me in that match, even before I scored, there were a lot of abuses from fans. That’s what made me do what I did, and I don’t regret it because disrespect goes with disrespect.” Muguna told Nana Owiti on Turf Talk show.

“They have to understand that I did a lot for the team, and they should respect me as their former captain. But if you look at that match, they didn’t.” he added.
