Faith Kipyegon is the World 1,500m and mile world record holder and one of the finest female athletes the country has ever produced. The middle and long-distance runner has kept Kenyan flag high at the world’s stage winning numerous races.
She was born in Keringet ward, Kuresoi south in Nakuru County in the Kenyan Rift Valley and she is the eighth born in a family of nine children. She was a footballer before she was introduced to athletics at the age of 14 years.
Despite conquering the world and breaking several world records in athletics, she is also a family person having married Timothy Kitum who is a middle-distance runner and the 2012 Olympics 800m bronze winner.
Kipyegon and her husband are blessed with one daughter Alyn Kiprono is 5 years old turning 6 years in June this year. She had to take a career break in 2018 when she got pregnant for Alyn before making her comeback where she won 6 races among them breaking three world records.
