Former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo who plays for Saudi Pro League’s side Al Nassr has again found himself in a controversial situation. The Portugal captain moved to the middle East country in January 2023 to join Al Nassr after his controversial exit from Old Trafford following a fallout with the club and manager Erik ten Hag.

On Sunday, Ronaldo’s side Al Nassr faced Al-Shabab in an away match where they got a hard fought 3-2 victory against the hosts. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opener for Al Nassr through penalty before former Atletico Madrid man Yannick Carrasco Al-Shabab equalized before halftime.

Talisca scored a second half brace including 86th minute winner which left them in the second position with 52 points just 7 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal who are still unbeaten after 21 matches.

The Late winner goal by Talisca angered many Al-Shabab fans that made them start chanting the name of Ronaldo’s long-term football rivalry Lionel Messi that triggered Cristiano Ronaldo to respond to the crowd. In the viral video going round social media,  Ronaldo reacted to chants of Lionel Messi’s name where his response involved gesturing towards his male private part, in a move to hit back at Al-Shabab fans for criticizing him.

Ronaldo’s outrageous response has been criticized by many terming it unnecessary and unprofessional from a player of his calibre. This incident has caught attention of the Saudi Football Federation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee which has since commenced an investigation on the matter. If found guilty, Cristiano Ronaldo could face a ban of up to 2 matches and a fine.
