“Let’s Not Sit And Be Lazy”: Charlene Ruto To Jobless Kenyans
Charlene Ruto, the president’s daughter has received online backlash from angry Kenyans after claiming Kenyan youth are lazy but keep complaining about the tough economy.In an exclusive talk on Citizen TV’s show dubbed Kenya’s Gold, Charlene laid blame on Kenyans for lazing around rather than being innovative and inventive as a way of curbing joblessness in the country.
Charlene Ruto went on and said, that sometimes she gets shocked by the number of CVs she bumps on at her office table where many educated Kenyans are looking for employment at her organizations but she ain’t able to help all of them.

” I cannot tell you the amount of CVs on my desk and the requests for jobs, maybe we would employ 3,000 young people. It is a drop in the ocean, we are 70% of the over 50 million population of Kenya,” she said
“The best thing we can do for our young people is create opportunities for them…the network. I’d like to call on our young people, let’s not sit and be lazy,” she added.
To curb the rate of joblessness among the Kenyan youth, Charlene advised netizens to come up with superb ideas as far as the economy is concerned and work on them. In situations where they are faced with financial deficits, they may seek help and helped where it is deserved.

“You are passionate about something, don’t give up on that. Reach out to us, and give us your idea. I give a listening ear to somebody who has already started something and I can see where they are going and I can put something in other than somebody who is like ‘Give me a job’…which job?” she posed.
Further, she went on and point out that the kind of netizens her team are going to give a listening ear and help are those who have already ventured into self-employment opportunities and are progressing without making noise on social media about Kenya’s economy.
“Where am I going to get the job from? But if you tell me that ‘I’m passionate about tree planting or beekeeping, could you come to visit my farm or could you help me get a piece of land somewhere, I want to expand’…these are the young people we’re going to give a listening ear to,” she pointed out.

Her sentiments on National television have not been received warmly by citizens on social media. Most angry netizens have clapped at her by claiming their sufferings have been brought by the ruling government.
