Mali Safi Chito crooner Marakwet Daughter has dealt her brand a terrible blow after making remarks that irked countless Kenyans, including big-time celebrities.

The online sensation rubbed netizens the wrong way after banning deejays from including her song Mali Safi Chito in their mixxes.

Marakwet Daughter made it clear that deejays can play her song at their events but should not upload the same on YouTube and other music streaming platforms for commercial benefits.

Speaking during an interview with Tuko, the content creator noted that she owns the rights to the song and has the right to bar anyone from using it.

“DJs should respect my work. You are not allowed to upload my music on your YouTube channels. You don’t know what I went through to be able to record that song. I own the rights, it is registered. Do not upload my work on your channels. Play my music at your events but do not upload it on YouTube.” She warned.

Her warning angered many Kenyans on social media who decided to educate her on the importance of deejays and the role they play in popularising one’s songs.
