KPLC has given me my January bill mid-month and it’s a whooping Ksh 17K ” Bien posted on his X account formerly Twitter.

X users on the other hand never stay silent but prefer to hit him using several music lines and titles he has created in his artistry journey. One user stoned him by quoting the phrase kipara bila pesa ni kidonda to simply mean a bald head without money is a wound.

Another user quoted his renowned song Inauma about Bien’s pain of being charged exorbitantly by KPLC even before the month ends. Last month, celebrated journalist Anita Nderu was left in utter shock after receiving a whoop of Ksh 383,847 electricity bill from KPLC.

When I checked the bill, I was shocked. And, note this; nothing had changed in our consumption.” Anita complained.

“And somehow, our car has a separate meter that we charge daily, and that costs us barely anything a year? Please make it sense!!” She added.

Taking to her social media, a heartbroken journalist claimed that the bill made her contact KPLC where they told her that her fridge was the one that had consumed a lot of electricity. Bien and journalist Anita Nderu have joined a long queue of Kenyans who have complained online over the hike in electricity bills without being informed.

Displeased Kenyans started complaining in late 2023 over the silent hike of tokens but the Kenya Power and Lighting Company has not yet reported on the case.
