5 Clubs Jose Mourinho Could Join After Being Sacked By AS Roma

Legendary Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Serie A side AS Roma after a poor run of results.

Mourinho joined the Italian club in May 2021 for 3 three-year contract which he led them to win then just introduced competition UEFA Conference League as he defeated Netherlands champions Feyenoord in the FINALS in his first season with the club.

Mourinho, who is commonly referred to as ‘The Special One’, has managed giant clubs across Europe including Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all in the English Premier League.

Jose Mourinho now departs the club on a mutual agreement just 6 months before his contract expires. The Giallorossi decided to sack him following the poor run of results this season with the club placed in the 9th position in Serie A table, last weekend’s 3-1 loss to AC Milan was their seventh of the season and definitely the last match in charge as AS Roma head coach.

With other notable managers around Europe also facing the firing line, Mourinho could soon find a new job at a number of big clubs following his beautiful managerial career. The following clubs could be Mourinho’s destinations.

1. MANCHESTER UNITED

Jose Mourinho managed the Manchester-based club between 2016 and 2018 before being fired by the club.

United is really struggling this season the club is currently in 8th position and have been knocked out of the Champions League and Carabao cup.

United fans have been calling for the sacking of the head coach Erik ten Hag and if this happens Mourinho see his return to Manchester United.

2. CHELSEA

Can the Special One accept a third stint in West London? Well, crazier things have happened in the world of football with the highly revered manager having previously been linked with a move back to the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

Mauricio Pochettino might have nicked four consecutive home wins, but his future at Stamford Bridge hangs on a thin line with him registering poor results this season. The club is 90 minutes away from getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup Championship side Middlesbrough after losing 1-0 in the first leg.

3. NEWCASTLE UNITED

The Magpies have been poor this season compared to last season where they finished second in the Premier League and even qualified for the Champions League since 2002 though they crashed out in the group stage.

Last weekend’s dramatic 3-2 loss to reigning champions Manchester City saw them drop to 10th place on the Premier League table. With pressure from Newcastle board and fans could see the English manager Eddie Howe fired with Jose Mourinho could be lined up for the task.

4. SAUDI ARABIA 

The Portuguese manager was linked with a move to Saudi Pro League last season though he did not rule out the Saudi Arabia question but insisted that he had unfinished business in Europe. With this sacking from AS Roma could be the right time to make the move to Saudi Arabia.

With the Middle East nation keen on revolutionizing football, landing Mourinho for one of its top clubs could boost their football projection. Al-Ittihad manager Marcelo Gallardo appears to be struggling at Al-Ittihad with a rumoured falling out between him and Karim Benzema and the Portuguese manager replaced him linking up again with Benzema at the club.

5. NATIONAL TEAMS

After the World Cup, the former Real Madrid manager was linked with a couple of national sides, including his native Portugal and five-time World Champions Brazil. After Brazil missed out on Real Madrid tactician Carlo Ancelotti, they opted to move for Dorival Junior for the job. With England’s head coach Gareth Southgate contract after Euro 2024, Jose Mourinho could take the England managerial role.
