Residents of Bulindi Village, Kamuli District lost their cool and forced a 40-year-old wife Sarah Nalumansi out of the village for torturing her elderly husband, Kadogo David 82.

The angry residents made the tough decision to excommunicate the young wife after she was found guilty of starving, beating and not cleaning after her disabled husband.

“She is a very tough woman who beats him up. The man was a very calm and capable person but at this point, he is very weak and ill,” a worried resident said.

When the angry residents ambushed the couple’s home, Nalimansi ran for dear life forcing them to throw out her things together with her three children.

According to the neighbors, Nalumansi one time beat her husband up to the point of breaking his back. The helpless Kadogo now uses crutches for support.

Addressing the matter, the victim narrated how his wife was a good woman at the start of their relationship before she started seeing other men. Kadogo now wants her out of his hose before she kills him.

One of Kadogo’s daughters, Lydia recalled the day she got to know about her father’s torture and bad living conditions, she rallied the local council to take him away from her home, but Nalumansi sought the help of the Uganda Women Network (UWN) to have her husband brought back home; which they did.

“She was no longer taking care of him and fulfilling her responsibilities as a wife. She beat and starved him all the time that is why the residents chased her away from the village,” Emma Robert, the village chairperson revealed.

The UWN led by Nabirye rushed to the scene to rescue Nalumansi’s property in her absentia and promised to tale her three children to a safer place.
