Mwafreeka: DJ Styles Saved Bamboo From Kleptomaniax’s ‘Anticipated’ Attack

Former Ghetto Radio presenter turned YouTuber Mwafreeka has shared with the world the genesis and end of many beefs experienced in the Kenyan hip hop music scene.
Mwafreeka disclosed that many rappers used to beef with each other not because they hate the other parties but to help grow and popularise the genre in the country.
Speaking during an interview with Dr. King’ori on his show Wicked Edition, Mwafreeka revealed that most beefs did not end up with physical violence as artiste understood it was just all for the game.

Mwafreeka, however, noted one incident that nearly saw rap group Kleptomaniax and Bamboo get into a fist fight because of their then longtime beef.
According to Mwafreeka, Kleptomaniax members, consisting of Nyashinski, Collo and Robba, together with a number of their friends almost beat up Bamboo for dissing them in one of his songs.
Members of Kleptomaniax were so angry that they had to wait for Bamboo outside the Capital FM studios, ready to raise hell on him after his interview.
Mwafreeka revealed that Bamboo would have been beaten to a pulp was it not for DJ Stylez who hid him inside the Capital FM’s studios until Kleptomaniax and their friends disappeared from the vicinity.

”The beefs those times never got to a violent level. People never used to fight because of beefs and diss tracks. Deep down, we knew we were just trying to promote this culture. Because of that, we knew this culture is very misunderstood, therefore hata watu wakipigana walikuwa mabeste. I had dissed the likes of Chiwawa and they dissed me back, but we were still friends. The only time these beefs became serious, and people almost fought was when Bamboo dissed Kleptomaniax and the group decided to hunt him down at Capital FM. Bamboo had to be hidden by DJ Styles in the studio.” Mwafreeka said.
Mwafreeka reiterated that artistes used to beef but theirs was just that, beefs for music and could not go beyond that.
