Notorious Self Claimed Robber And Gang Leader Gruesomely Killed
The Territorial Police of Gomba, in collaboration with the Katonga Regional Police and Gomba Police has launched an investigation into the murder of one of the notorious self confessed robber, also Kifeesi gang Sobi, real name Paddy Sserunjoji that happened yesterday, December 18, 2023, in Kibaale village, Kigumba parish, Maddu subcounty, Gomba district.
According to police reports, the incident happened at around 12:30 PM, on a land belonging to a one Kalisa in Kibaale village when a group of about 50 people armed with sticks, pangas, and spears attacked another group.
“The disputed land was purchased by Kalisa, who paid 20 million out of a total of 100 million in 2007. However, it is claimed that he bought it from the wrong person. Another group, purporting to be the children and grandchildren of the late Kibi Paul and led by Deborah Nagadiya and Kiwewa Barton, emerged with land titles, claiming their ownership of the same land,” SP Majid Karim, the police spokesperson for Katonga region said in a statement.
The matter was taken to court but before the case was resolved, the second group hired individuals from Kampala Kisenyi to help clear and occupy the land.
“Last night, Kalisa’s people hired their people from other areas and they met at his son’s Rwabazingu, Fred Nyangabo, and Rwakana where all the plans to attack the other group were discussed,” the statement said.
However, during the clash, the group led by Sobi was overpowered leading to his death.
Different items, including food, utensils, and structures, were reportedly destroyed.
According to police, more individuals are alleged to have been killed, although only Sobi’s body was recovered with cut wounds on the leg and neck.
“Officers from Gomba Police responded immediately, restoring order in the area. The deceased’s body has been conveyed to Gomba Hospital Mortuary for postmortem,” Karim said.
Three more confirmed injuries including Katumba Gerald, Mateka Andrew, and Aliyu Dela were reported.
Sobi became the talk of the town around 2017 after he appeared in different interviews confessing to being the leader of Kifeesi, a notorious criminal gang that terrorized Kampala. He also admitted to have strangled his victims and also hired to do other people’s dirty work.
