Turkish Soccer Suspended Indefinitely After Club President Beat Referee

The attack is a threat to our football game, FA said
Turkish Super League has been indefinitely suspended after the manager punched the referee on his cheeks.
On 11th Monday evening in Turkey, the referee Halil Umut Meler was openly assaulted by Ankaragucus’s president following a draw (1-1) with Rizespor.
Faruk Koca, Ankaragucus’s president stepped in the field at the end of the game and punched the referee after his team netted a goal at 97th minute.

Feeling irritated by the results of the game where he laid blame on the referee for officiating the game obscenely, he opted to rest his anger on him.

In the viral pictorials shared on social media, Mr Halil Umut after receiving blows on his cheeks, fell on the ground where other players joined the coach/president in assaulting him.
Following the unprofessional ethics depicted by Ankaragucu president and players, Turkish Football Association Chairperson has indefinitely suspended all remaining Turkish Super League games.

FA Chairperson Mehmet Buyuketsi: “all remaining games have been postponed indefinitely. The attack is a threat to our football game”.
Turkish state president Tayyip Erdogan on the other hand has condoned the incident and wished the referee quick recovery as police continue with investigations to arrest the victims.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: ” I condone the attack met on referee Halil Umut Meler after the game between MKE Ankaragucus and Caykur Rizespor yesterday in the evening and I wish him quick recovery. “

The president further said cases of violence and attacks in Turkish Football would neither be tolerated nor accepted.
” Games and sports are meant for peace and unity. They are not associated with violence. We won’t allow violence reign or happen in our Turkish games and sports” he added.
