Harry Maguire Accepts Apology From An African MP

Ghanaian MP Isaac Adongo gained a lot of attention a time like this last year after relating his country’s economy to Manchester United’s defender Harry Maguire’s performances by scoring many own goals.

Odongo, in referencing Maguire again after 12 months, used the football analogy to underscore his critique of the political rival, once more intertwining sports and politics.

Speaking in the parliament Adongo said “If you remember last year I was very quick to compare vice-president Mahamudu Bawumia to Harry Maguire, Mr Speaker I now apologise to Harry Maguire.”

“Mr Chairman, you got very angry when I used your defender as an example. Today Maguire has turned the corner, he’s a transformational footballer. Harry Maguire is now scoring goals for Manchester United.” The MP added

Despite the earlier controversy, Maguire accepted Adongo’s apology, especially after praising the Manchester United defender’s remarkable transformation this season.

In response Maguire wrote this on his Twitter account (X) “MP Isaac Adongo apology accepted. See you at Old Trafford soon”
