Missing Student Found In Collapsed School Pit Latrine

Police in Sheema district are investigating circumstances under which a Senior Six Candidate was found dead in a collapsed pit-latrine.

 

The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Ramanzani Caption, a senior six candidate at Kitagata SSS offering Physics, Economics, Mathematics, and Information Computer Technology (ICT).

 

It is said that the deceased went missing on Sunday, a few hours to sit for his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.

 

The deputy headteacher Asaph Mwije filed a missing personal complaint and the search begun.

“The school management tried checking in all the school buildings to see if he could be hiding in one of them but we didn’t find him, thus I decided to move to Kitagata Police Station the following morning to make a report of the disappearance of our student,” he said.

 

Tumusiime Martial, the Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson revealed that Ramanzani’s body was discovered on Wednesday in the school pit latrine that collapsed on the day he went missing.

Tumusiime also noted that the collapse of the pit latrine was due to the heavy rains that may have destroyed the foundation.

 

The body of the deceased was taken to Kitagata hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the relatives for burial.
