First Years To Receive HELB Loans On Tuesday
The funds will be disbursed to their respective universities and student accounts starting Tuesday 7 November, 2023
First Year students are set to receive their HELB Loans under the New Funding Model on Tuesday November 7,2023.
This is according to a statement by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu who urged students to ensure that all details as provided are correct.
“The Higher Education Loans Board has finalized the processing of loans for First Year students in universities and TVETs under the New Higher Education Funding Model. Consequently, the Ministry wishes to inform successful applicants that the funds will be disbursed to their respective universities and student accounts starting Tuesday 7 November, 2023”
”Students are advised to ensure that their bank details, as provided in the application for the loans, are correct and up to date.” Stated the CS in his speech.

The new model categorises students into vulnerable, extremely needy, needy, or less needy ensuring that students get the loans according to their level of need.
The application deadline for the loans was October 7.
