Man Stabs To Death Elderly Peasant Over A Few Pennies

Police in Agago with the help of the territorial police in Aswa Region have arrested a man for the murder of an elderly peasant over ugsh. 1000.

 

The incident happened on Thursday when a one Aldo Akech Okello aged 32 years old from Lamero village, Kaket Parish fatally stabbed Tarasisto Okwera, a 53-year-old peasant and a resident of Nyer Ikan south village.

 

On that fateful day at around 2:30 PM, the suspect repaired the victim’s padlock for a fee of Ugsh. 2000. The victim allegedly paid him half of the money with the balance to be paid later.

 

Without listening to the deceased’s excuse, Okello turned violent demanding for his full amount. He pulled out a knife from the victim, ran after him and stabbed him in his ribs.

Residents who witnessed the attack quickly arrested the suspect and dragged him to the LC 1 chairperson of the village.

 

The victim was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately died on the way before reaching Kalongo Hospital. They had to return his body home for burial preparations.

 

An angry mob tried to attack the suspect, but he was rescued by the police from Lapono police post who took the killer knife as an exhibit.

“We strongly condemn such acts of elderly abuse and impunity within the community where perpetrators of violence, transfer their anger on innocent elderly persons. We are going to fast track this violent murder through the courts of law and ensure the suspect is punished,” SCP Enanga Fred, the Uganda Police spokesperson revealed.
