Azimio spokesperson Makau Mutua has publicly criticized Public Service CS Moses Kuria, alleging that he harbors intentions to challenge President William Ruto and even replace Rigathi Gachagua as Ruto’s running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

Makau Mutua took to his social media platform to express his concerns, stating, “There’s a method in the madness that we are seeing in Moses Kuria. He either wants to challenge his boss William Ruto for the presidency as the Agikuyu candidate or replace Rigathi Gachagua as running mate to Ruto,” asserting that these ambitions are rooted in political strategy.

However, Mutua went on to dismiss Kuria’s aspirations, categorizing them as delusions. “It’s a delusion, for none of those scenarios will pan out,” he emphasized.

Moses Kuria had previously sparked controversy in September when he jokingly referred to himself as the ‘acting President’ during the absence of President William Ruto, his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who were away on official travel.

His remark stirred significant online reactions and discussions.

Further adding to the political drama, Kuria shared a photo of Deputy President Gachagua shortly after the President’s Cabinet reshuffle, which resulted in Kuria’s move from the Trade ministry to the Public Service ministry.

In a recent social media post, the Public Service CS alleged that a ‘Mt. Kenya Kingpin’ was behind the impeachment of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza by her Members of County Assembly (MCAs).

Kuria firmly stated his support for Governor Mwangaza, condemning the alleged political scheming behind her impeachment.

“This is an evil scheme by someone who thinks that the only way to be a Mt. Kenya Kingpin is to bring down other leaders, not to solve the problems of our people, who are getting desperate by the day. History will vindicate me.” He added.

As the political landscape in Kenya continues to evolve, the ambitions and strategies of key figures like Moses Kuria are under thorough scrutiny, setting the stage for a dynamic and intriguing presidential race in 2027.
