Black is beautiful they say. Light skin on the other hand seems attractive to some. The latter was the case for Kenyan Rapper and Media Personality Kush Tracey in her early-mid 20s .

In a long post, the Media Personality narrates her journey of being confused thus succumbing to various forms of pressure like bleaching before later finding herself.

“In my early-mid 20s I was as lost as they come. I thought being light skin made me “more beautiful,” she states as she narrates bleaching her skin to be sure of her beauty

While using two pictures; one of her before bleaching and the other after bleaching, Tracey admits that she looked all happy living her best life in her light skin but the reality was, she was  broken and lost

“2nd pic is still me,skin bleached, skinnier, looking like I’m living my best life but the reality is I was broken, lost, confused and I definitely lacked an identity”

She further opens up on her struggle with overcoming bleaching addiction which saw her lose some friends who believed in her beauty only while light skinned.

“I never thought skin bleaching addiction was an actual thing until I did a lot of research to understand why it was a struggle for me to just stop doing something that was actually causing harm to my body  and  could potentially have severe consequences in the long run.”

“Anyway I had “friends” who “preferred” me “lighter” and thought that’s when I was beautiful (well I dropped them tukisonga) but the more I’ve worked on my mindset & thank God for the Bible I’ve embraced the truth of who God says I am,I don’t need to change my skin colour for nobody to validate me & put me in a “beauty category”

She concluded her message by urging dark-skinned ladies to love their skin colours

“I can’t type everything here; but to all my gorgeous beautiful melanin queens, y’all are a dime. You don’t need to get a few shades light to look beautiful,Y’all are beautiful just the way you are”she affirms
