Ruto Announces Plan To Have Kenyans Paid For Planting Trees
President William Ruto has hinted on a plan to have Kenyans paid for having trees in their farms.
The head of state while speaking today during the Ushirika Day Celebration at KICC,urged Kenyans to take tree planting seriously as it would result into a source of income in few years to come.
He assured Kenyans that he is leading as an example as he is planting trees on his farm and they should therefore not complain when he is paid for doing so.
“Hapa mbele, miaka michache inayokuja, utakuwa unalipwa kwa kuwa na miti katika shamba yako sasa anzeni kujipanga. Mimi nimejipanga tayari napanda miti. Sitaki mseme sikuwaambia.Miti ni biashara ya kesho(In a few years to come, you will be paid for having trees in your farm so prepare for it. I’m already planting trees. Don’t say I didn’t tell you),”he said
The urge is seen as one geared towards seeing full implementation of his plan to grow 5 billion new trees as part of his climate change mitigation agenda.
