President Ruto Rejects SRC’s Proposal To Increase His Salary

President William Ruto has rejected Salary and Remuneration Commission proposal to have his salary and that of his Deputy together with other senior state officials increased.

The head of state while speaking at the Kenyatta International Convention Center(KICC), directed the Salaries body to meet the international compression formula before implementing their proposal.

He also noted the need to reduce the gap between Senior officers salaries and that of Civil servants.

“I have told SRC that there is an internationally accepted formula called compression formula. Until they come back to me and say they have met that formula, our salary increment will wait.”

“But for the other people, the state officers, myself, my deputy, ministers, PSs, MPs and others. That salary would remain the way it is. Let it remain the way it is until SRC gives us international best practices because we need to reduce the gap.”

He further promised that the earnings of Civil servants is set to increase from tomorrow 1st July,2023.

“Salaries of other civil servants can be adjusted beginning tomorrow July 1st,2023. So our teachers, military officers and people working in government services, we have agreed that your salaries will be adjusted between 7% and 10% from tomorrow,”Ruto said
