Spanish side Barcelona have announced the signing of Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer.

He has amassed a sizable medal collection over his seven years at Manchester City. He was a member of the City team that finally won its first Champions League this year after winning the Premier League five times. He scored 60 goals in seven seasons in England.

Gundogan also had offers from Manchester City, Arsenal, and Saudi Arabian clubs, but he decided to join Barcelona. Barcelona will now work hard to register him before the season begins.

Barcelona released a statement confirming the news. “Barcelona and Ilkay Gündoan have reached an agreement for the German international to sign for the Catalans now that his contract with Manchester City has ended. He will join for two seasons, through June 30, 2025, with the option to stay for one more year. His buyout clause has been set at 400 million euros.” Read the statement.
