Chelsea Announce Kalidou Koulibaly Departure
Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly, has left Chelsea to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, the two clubs announced on Sunday.
Koulibaly joined Chelsea from Napoli in July of last year and made 32 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice. He had a short spell at Stamford Bridge last season during a time when the club performed poorly. After Portugal midfielder Ruben Neves joined Al-Hilal from Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday, the 32-year-old is the second player to leave the English Premier League for Al-Hilal.
Kalidou Koulibaly took to his social media pages to thank Chelsea fans for his time at the Bridge. “From my first game to my last, it was an honor to wear this badge. Last season wasn’t the one we wanted, but I want to thank the fans and everyone at the club for your support.” He said.
Chelsea have also agreed deals to sell Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy to Saudi Arabian clubs in a move that has seen Chelsea have a massive clearout for the out-of-favor players at the bridge.
