England Defeats Malta In Euro 2024 Qualifiers
England defeated Malta 4-0 in European qualification as Trent Alexander Arnold shines.
The Liverpool defender was moved into midfield by Gareth Southgate and repaid the trust by winning the man of the match award.
He scored one stunning goal and assisted on another in the dominant win. Harry Kane converted another through a penalty kick, while Malta defender Ferdinand Apap scored an own goal after a Bukayo Saka cross.
Speaking after the game, Alexander Arnold said he felt comfortable playing in midfield.
“I haven’t played it too much, but it feels comfortable,” the 24-year-old told Channel 4 when asked whether this was a position he could see his future in. It feels natural, and I will say that.
It’s somewhere I can see myself playing. I want to make sure I am regularly on the team sheet, and that was a good foundation to build on.” He said
Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka was forced off in what appeared to be an injury for the star.
