Egypt’s Al Ahly Wins CAF Champions League
After their Sunday night 1-1 tie in Morocco, the Egyptian giants Al Ahly defeated Wydad Casablanca 3-2 on aggregate to win the CAF Champions League.
In the first half, Wydad established an attacking rhythm and launched chances at Al Ahly’s goal, but they were unable to force Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy to take any noteworthy action. Yahia Attiyat Allah’s in-swinging free kick from the right side found the back of the net on minute 27, despite several players running across its route.
This gave the Red Castle the lead for the night.
In the second half, defender Mohamed Abdelmonem tipped Ali Maaloul’s corner kick into the goal to even the score on the night but give the Red Devils the advantage again, 3-2 overall, as they were able to hold off and win the tie over the two legs.
As a result of the win,Al Ahly will now compete in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
