Ferdinand Omanyala Finishes Second In Paris
100-meter African record holder Ferdinand Omanyala finished second in Paris on Friday night.
Commonwealth Games 100-meter champion Ferdinand Omanyala, who had yet to win any of his three races in the Diamond League, ran under 10 seconds, finishing second in 9.98. After their 150-meter collision in the Atlanta Games, world 200-meter champion Noah Lyles defeated the African record holder once more by dipping at the finish line to defeat the Kenyan and winning in 9.97 seconds.
Letsile Tebogo of Botswana, the world under-20 record holder, finished third with a time of 10.05 at the Stade Charlety under ideal sprinting conditions. Although African champion Omanyala, who is this season’s quickest after running 9.84 seconds in toe, was outfasted by 2011 world champion Yohan Blake of Jamaica, Lyles displayed class in his transition into the final 50 meters to draw away.
Omanyala has also received massive congratulations from all over the country despite finishing second.
