Zlatan Ibrahimovic Announces Retirement From Football
AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has retired from professional football at the age of 41.
A really sentimental Ibrahimovic had a guard of honor from his teammates as he departed the field after being serenaded by Milan supporters holding up a giant Tifo that read “Goodbye.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has played for European clubs including Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Manchester United, and Internazionale where he has scored a total of 511 goals in his career and league titles in four different nations.
He is Sweden’s all-time leading scorer with 62 goals in 121 games.
Speaking after the game, Ibrahimovic thanked everyone who has been by his side;
“I want to thank my family and everyone close to me for their patience. I want to thank my second family, the players. I want to thank AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli and his staff for the responsibility you have given me. I want to thank the managers for the opportunity.”
“But most important of all: from my heart I want to thank you fans. You welcomed me with open arms, you made me feel at home. I will be a Milan fan for life. The time has come to say goodbye to football, but not to you.” He continued.
AC Milan will be in the market to search for a new striker to replace Ibrahimovic.
